The spear gun is a device that is used to fish while underwater. It is often used to impale fish or other marine animals. Spear guns can also be used in sport fishing and underwater target shooting.
Jason Voorhees used it as a murder weapon in three films: Friday the 13th Part III, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. The spear gun is once again used in Friday the 13th: The Game.
Part 3
The spear gun and hockey mask were both used by Shelly Finkelstein to play practical jokes on the rest of the campers. Later, after acquiring it, Jason Vorhees used the spear gun to kill Vera Sanchez by shooting a spear into her left eye, which then became lodged into her skull.

While on board the SS Lazarus, Jason used a different spear gun on teenage lovers Jim Miller and Suzannah "Suzy" Donaldson. The gun itself was used as a stabbing weapon on Jim Miller as Suzy fled. After hunting down the latter, Jason used the gun's spear to sadistically torment the girl, before stabbing her to death.
