Friday the 13th: The Game was a survival horror game released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It was released on May 26th, 2017 for digital stores and the physical copies were released on October 13th, 2017. The game was released on Nintendo Switch on August 13, 2019.

Gameplay

Friday the 13th: The Game is a semi-open world third-person survival horror game set in the fictional camp of Crystal Lake in the Friday the 13th franchise. The time period in which the game is set is the mid-1980s in order to better capture the feel.

The game is an asymmetrical multiplayer video game, with up to eight people able to play in one game. One player controls Jason Voorhees, while the remaining players control camp counselors at Crystal Lake. A player may also control Tommy Jarvis, who becomes playable when certain conditions are met. According to gameplay demos, Jason has heightened hearing and vision, with him being able to teleport anywhere the player wants. The objective of the counselors is to escape from the camp or survive until time runs out on the session, while Jason's objective is to kill all the remaining players. Jason may also be defeated with an "‘epic’ win condition" that requires teamwork and is difficult to perform.

Kane Hodder, who portrayed Jason in Part VII, Part VIII, Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X reprised him via motion capture and coordinated the stunts. Thom Mathews, who portrayed Tommy Jarvis in Part VI, and Larry Zerner, who played Shelley Finkelstein in Part III, also reprise their roles in the series.

Although the game was originally planned to be multiplayer only, a single-player mode will be added in an update planned for Summer 2017, despite the stretch goal for US$1.625 million to unlock it not being reached. The mode will consist of objective-based missions that will allow the player to take control of Jason against offline camp counselor bots. Some of the missions will be adaptations of the films, while others are original scenarios.

Characters

In the game, players can take control of a number of different characters. Players will either be a counselor or Jason.

Notes

Although Tommy is not technically a counselor, he is a special character in the game. All of Tommy's stats are 10/10 and he is the only one who can kill Jason. To get Tommy on the map, at least two counselors need to either die or escape and you need to use the CB radio to call him. Then one of the Dead/Escaped counselors will be brought back as Tommy Jarvis.

Additionally, there is one unplayable counselor, Rob Dier ("The First Victim") who is always killed in the opening cutscene and whose body can be found in random areas around the map is based on Rob Dier from The Final Chapter.

Badges

Badges are collectibles similar to achievements within the game. They can be earned via completing certain tasks a number of times. Badges can be ranked up after being earned by continuing to meet the completion quota, which increases exponentially with each rank until fully ranked up. There are a total of 43 collectible badges in game, thirty of which are Counselor exclusive, leaving the remaining thirteen to be Jason exclusive. An additional badge is only available to players who complete the Virtual Cabin demo. Aside from being linked to a few achievements, badges serve no purpose outside of 100% completion. Counselors have a total of 30 badges to collect. The badges can be ranked up to Gold from Bronze after earning. Before earning a badge, it is displayed as a darkened version of the Bronze badge which becomes brighter after earning. While in Bronze rank, the Badge appears circular, with a brown circumference and a green background, with the badge's icon in the center. Silver badges appear as a shield shape with a rounded bottom and a section on top with two stars in it. The edge is grey and the background is blue, with the badge's icon displayed within the lower section. The Gold badge appears as a hexagonal shield with a yellow edge and a purple background. The badge icon is displayed in the center beneath three stars.

Jason Badges

Jason has thirteen collectable badges, appropriate to the name of the franchise. His badges do rank up, but follow a less conventional scheme to those of the counselors. As such, for simplicity sake, they will be referred to as Rank 1, 2 and 3. The Rank 1 badge is a dark grey diamond with a lighter grey, segmented border, and the badge icon in the center. The Rank 2 badge is a hexagon with a black border and a red background. The top and bottom of the badge contain a black star each and the badge icon remains in the middle. The Rank 3 badge is a pentagonal shield shape with a red border and a dark grey background. There are three stars in an upper section, while the badge icon sits in the lower section.

Mechanics

Hiding is a mechanic in Friday the 13th: The Game which allows counselors to occupy hiding spots found throughout the game.

Hiding Spots

There are four hiding spots counselors can hide in/under:

  • Beds
  • Closets
  • Outhouses
  • Tents

Hiding Mechanics/Strategies

In order to occupy a hiding spot, counselors have to place themselves near one while pressing the associated button/key press. However, if the hiding spot has been destroyed by Jason, it cannot be used anymore.

While a counselor is hiding, Jason cannot detect them with his Sense ability (unless his Rage ability is active). Hiding also switches the camera to first-person view, and can be aimed to look at different areas if you need to examine the environment.

Hiding while Jason isn't nearby lowers the fear level of a counselor very fast. However, if Jason is nearby, the counselor's fear will start to rise, and if the counselor's fear level becomes too high they will mutter to themselves outloud as Jason walks nearby; this gives Jason sound cues of where the counselor is hiding. Counselors with low composure will panic fast if Jason is nearby for a short while, but counselors with high composure who already built up high amounts of fear will also have great difficulty not blowing their cover.

Counselors can hold their breath while hiding. This prevents them from talking to themselves for a few seconds, but once the counselor runs out of breath they will breath outloud; this will reveal their presence to Jason when he's nearby. It should be done as a last resort, and is usually better done when there are other hiding spots nearby. Once a counselor runs out of breath, Jason will know someone is there, but if there are multiple hiding spots then he must choose carefully.

Occupying a hiding spot is a useful way to avoid Jason, but it won't help you if Jason is chasing you. If he locates your hiding spot, and interacts with it, you will die if he chooses the "execution" option instead of the "check the hiding spot" choice. Furthermore, you aren't helping your team at all if you decide to occupy a hiding spot for too long. If you rely on this mechanic to the point you camp hiding spots for several minutes a game, you can attract the ire of your teammates who might become less cooperative with you as a form of payback.

When a counselor occupies a hiding spot, they regain stamina very fast. In fact, the quickest way to regain stamina in-game is to occupy a hiding spot that is near an external light source (e.g. outdoor light post). The second fastest way to regain stamina is occupying a hiding spot which isn't near an external light source. As such, using hiding spots for a few seconds to regain stamina is an excellent idea when you're on the move, and since it hides you from Jason's Sense ability you might even be able to give him the slip when he's trying to detect counselors.

Using hiding spots is useful for staying off Jason's radar as well as regaining stamina, but don't rely on it to keep you hidden from Jason for too long. He will detect you with his Sense ability when he gains his Rage ability, and your teammates won't appreciate your cowardice.

Guides

How to Play

The following will serve as a basic guide for the first hour of gameplay of Friday the 13th: The Game.

Getting Started

At the beginning of a match, one player is chosen at random to play as Jason Voorhees. Every other player will then begin the match as Counselors of their choosing before the match begins. The counselors must find a way to escape the map using objectives they can repair, and at the same time Jason will try to murder the counselors. The game will last 20 minutes, during which Jason becomes more dangerous as he unlock his abilities upon reaching certain time periods, so counselors must proceed with caution if they're still alive at later points in the game. Alternatively, the counselors can attempt to Kill Jason, but this isn't recommended unless you're able to play a match alongside a coordinated group who knows how to fulfill the conditions.

Spawning

Counselor spawn locations are randomized each game. On occasion, a small group of counselors may be spawned in close proximity, but there's no guarantee it will happen to you in a match since the game has no special placements for each different counselor.

Jason, on the flip side, will always begin the match in his shack. He starts off with one ability (Morph) which will allow him to teleport anywhere on the map starting off, and can pick two throwing knives off the walls in his starting room to use against the counselors.

Hiding

Hiding is a mechanic in Friday the 13th: The Game which allows counselors to occupy hiding spots found throughout the game.

Using hiding spots is useful for staying off Jason's radar as well as regaining stamina, but don't rely on it to keep you hidden from Jason for too long. He will detect you with his Sense ability when he gains his Rage ability, and your teammates won't appreciate your cowardice.

Counselors can find various utility tools as well as objects which can be used as makeshift weapons to fight Jason off. A few choices are actual weapons, many of them being useful for the Kill Jason win condition.

Make sure to look over the weapon statistic chart found in the game's tutorial (which can also be found on the Weapon page located on this wiki), and figure out which weapons would be better suited for your counselor. The higher a counselor's luck stat is, the more durable weapons will be when wielded by them. As a rule of thumb, any counselor can make great usage of a weapon with above-average stun/durability (e.g. wrench), and only counselors with high strength should consider using weapons that inflict high damage under normal circumstances.

However, always make sure the counselor is armed if you aren't carrying an objective part in hand; without a weapon, a counselor's fear will increase faster. Even a simple fire poker will help a counselor keep their fear under control, and it's better than being armed with nothing.

Jason's weapon is predetermined depending on which Jason is chosen by the player for the match(until Level 113 where weapons can be chosen for each Jason), and always deals a fixed amount of damage (Part 3 Jason, Part 4 Jason and Savini Jason deal higher amounts of weapon damage as a strength). While a few Jason's have slightly longer ranges (Part 6 Jason and Savini Jason), they are otherwise the same, being swung with the same attack speed. He cannot pick up any counselor weapons he finds, nor can he destroy them on sight (except when attacking a counselor who is blocking with the weapon), but he can force counselors to drop their weapons by choke-grabbing the counselors.

Items

Various Items can be found throughout the entire map; a normal spot is inside cabins as well as near buildings, although it's best to assume you'll find them in unlikely places as well. For counselors, there are two different types: Inventory and Objective.

Inventory Items are found inside drawers inside most buildings, and the majority of them are stored within your inventory slots (the exceptions to this rule are maps as well as walkie talkies; they are stored without needing an inventory slot). They can be used for varying purposes explained in the item page of this wiki, but in general they are useful for survival. Two of them can even be used to assault Jason, making them invaluable tools for fending off the mass murderer.

Objective Parts are necessary to make repairs on objectives. Any parts which cannot be stored in the inventory slots must be held by the counselor like a weapon, the catch being you cannot use them to fight Jason. Counselors must take extra precautions when they hold these types of items since they cannot fight Jason under these conditions unless they have fire crackers in their possession, and even then it's better to avoid Jason altogether.

Like weapons, Jason cannot pick up any items, and he cannot destroy them as well as open drawers to discover them. He can, however, find throwing knives scattered through the levels which only he can use. Also, if Jason murders any counselor, his victim will drop all inventory items as well as the weapon/objective part they were holding near their body. They can later be collected by fellow counselors, albeit they will suffer a heavy fear penalty for seeing a dead body, and crafty Jasons can leave traps near the corpses as well as hide near the bodies with Stalk activated to attack unsuspecting counselors.

Winning the Match

For Counselors, there are three different ways to win the game:

  • Escape using a fixed objective.
  • Survive for twenty minutes.
  • Kill Jason

As a counselor, there are various broken machines throughout the level which can be fixed if you have the correct objective parts for them. When an objective is repaired, it can be used to escape the level, therefore granting you a victory for managing to escape from Jason's clutches alive. While anyone can attempt to make a repair, new and/or inexperienced players should only attempt this using a counselor proficient in repairing objectives (e.g. A.J. Mason). New players will have only one counselor starting off with a decent repair stat: Kenny. Try him out to see if you enjoy making repairs, or would rather have someone else do this.

Counselors can also attempt to survive twenty minutes, although this is difficult since Jason becomes stronger as the match goes on (especially if he takes too much damage early on). Furthermore, depending on your counselor's stats, it might be difficult to hide from Jason to begin with. Counselors who have a stealth level less than nine will make noise whenever they jog, and counselors who are quick to panic will be hunted down with greater ease by Jason when he uses his Sense ability. Also, once Jason's Rage ability is activated, counselors will light up red even while occupying a hiding spot, meaning a counselor cannot indefinitely hide forever from Jason.

Finally, killing Jason is possible, but it should only be attempted with a coordinated group as mentioned above. If you wish to learn more about this win condition, look up the Kill Jason guide on this wiki.

For Jason, his sole objective is to eliminate the counselors. He can also takes certain steps to help ensure the counselors will be unable to kill him in a match, and keep a vigilant watch over the objectives to prevent counselors from repairing them with ease.

Combat

Counselors can fight Jason, and sometimes it's crucial to buy yourself time. Jason is invulnerable, meaning you can only stun him for a varying amount of time (unless you can achieve certain conditions that lead to the fulfillment of the Killing Jason win condition), and you cannot fight unless you're armed with a weapon as well as certain items. Furthermore, if you're fighting Jason alone, he can grab you in order to make you drop your weapon so he can execute you (unless you can escape his grasp through struggling or using a pocket knife). In short, a counselor should avoid fighting Jason alone unless you can ambush him, especially since Jason's attacks/grabs are much faster than any counselor's ability to swing a weapon.

When fighting Jason, stunning him will deal no damage by itself, which is helpful since damaging Jason will shorten the countdown before he gains his Rage ability. However, dealing high amounts of damage in a short period of time also has the chance to knock him down for a longer period of time than normal stuns, meaning you have a window of opportunity to escape. If enough damage is dealt, Jason's mask will fall off; this is a crucial step towards fulling the Kill Jason win condition, and it's worth it to grab his mask so a female counselor can enter Jason's shack without alerting Pamela. However, if you fight Jason by himself, he can counter this by grabbing you in order to make sure you can't rip his mask off, so it's recommended you fight Jason in a group to prevent this from happening.

For new players starting off, focus on using weapons with a high stun chance as well as high durability. Also, keep in mind the strength stat will reduce the amount of stamina a counselor uses when performing any combat-related actions, whether or not you're using combat stance as well.

Combat Stance

Everyone in the game can use a feature known as "Combat Stance." When activated, this feature allows you to attack quicker while also giving players more combat related actions to use.

As a counselor, you can block/dodge attacks to avoid taking any damage from Jason, but keep in mind blocking attacks also weakens a weapon's durability. It's not recommended for counselors to use combat stance if you're alone since Jason can still grab you, but it will help immensely if you're try to demask Jason for the Killing Jason quest AND you have allies near you who can stun Jason if he gets the upper hand on you. Weapon damage is doubled when you hit Jason while using combat stance, but this can be drawback since hurting Jason will cause his Rage Mode to activate earlier in a match.

Using combat stance will significantly slow down the player's movement speed, so use it only if you intend to duke it out with Jason. It should be noted that entering combat stance will automatically lock on to Jason, making it useful to immediately face him when you're almost out of stamina. But it can also backfire by accidentally targeting another nearby counselor, something that can get you into trouble if Jason is nearby. Make sure the conditions are right: counselors who are by themselves can simply run from Jason if he approaches them in combat stance, and Jason can always grab someone if he doesn't feel like fighting them in a duel.

Jason, on the flip side, cannot dodge attacks in combat stance (he can only block), and he will not be able to block everything effectively if he has a weakness in defense. Combat stance will help Jason destroy doors faster, although some players will not use this technique for personal reason such as believing it to be an unintended benefit (or even outright cheating). Any Jason who can run (Parts 2-5) has an edge in combat by being able to avoid attacks easier outside of combat stance thanks to their increased speed (you simply move away from counselors when they're about to swing their weapon). As such, whether or not Jason should use combat stance is up to player preference, but it can be useful if you're up against a single opponent or multiple counselors who are all facing your direction (e.g. fighting multiple people in a cramped hallway knowing there aren't any counselors behind you).

Conclusion

This information, while brief, should now give you a decent idea of understanding how the game works. It's recommended you play with different counselors in order to get an idea of what style of gameplay you favor, whether that be fighting Jason; protecting teammates; hiding from Jason; or something else altogether, so long as you don't break any in-game rules. Likewise, there's more information on this wiki which can give you tips in order to survive.

Make sure to communicate often with your teammates as a counselor so it's easier to survive, and if you help others, sometimes they might return the favor. Likewise, if you put others in harm's way on purpose, or abandon your team, don't be surprised if they leave you behind to die.

Killing Jason

Killing Jason requires teamwork and skill, but immediately ends the game with all still alive counselors winning. It is the easiest win to pull off if you're decently skilled and puts massive pressure on Jason regardless. It's recommended not to attempt this if you believe the person playing Tommy Jarvis is going to be incompetent. The following items must be acquired before attempting to kill Jason:

  • A female Counselor wearing Pamela's sweater (which is found in Jason's shack)
  • Tommy Jarvis, the only character who can kill Jason.
  • A Machete or an axe, for Tommy to finish off Jason.
  • Another weapon, preferably with a high stun chance (e.g. Baseball Bat), stunning Jason to his knees maskless allows Tommy to perform his finishing attack on Jason.

Once a team obtains all of the following above, these steps must be met (not necessarily all in this order):

  1. Knock Jason's mask off. This can be done in 2 hits in heavy swings a machete on a high strength characters, or more on an axe (which Tommy will effectively never break due to high luck)
  2. Have a female counselor enter Jason's shack to acquire Pamela's sweater. If possible, have the female counselor equip herself with the axe found in the shack. If you haven't knocked Jason's mask off yet, Pamela will warn Jason of your intentions, so it's a good idea to have the female counselor equipped with Jason's mask if planning to be stealthy. Alternatively, be loud and force Jason to chase you and ignore others.
  3. Survive until Tommy Jarvis enters the game, either by someone who died or escaped. Make sure the radio used to call Tommy Jarvis has been activated.
  4. Have the female counselor arm Tommy with the axe she found in Jason's shack. If she didn't acquire it (or lost it), have someone arm Tommy with a machete or another axe they found. Finally, someone (including the sweater girl or tommy) should be armed with a high stun chance weapon (Axe has 90% stun chance). If possible, a baseball bat is the best bet.
  5. Get Jason's attention, then have the female counselor wearing Pamela's sweater activate it when Jason's mask has been already knocked off. Jason will be momentarily stunned, and the player controlling him cannot make any inputs for a short moment. He will eventually drop his guard, moving limply towards the sweater girl who is pretending to be Pamela.
  6. Have the sweater girl or tommyhit Jason with a high stun chance weapon; it can be done by others also. If successful, Jason will be stunned, this time around dropping on his knees compared to a normal stun. If you aren't using a baseball bat, failure to stun will pull Jason out of the animation.
  7. Finally, Tommy presses the button prompt in front of Jason while armed with a machete or axe.

If done correctly, a cutscene will play with Tommy hitting Jason once in the side of the face, then in slow-motion in the top of the head; Jason will fall down, this time for good. This leads to all the remaining counselors escaping, ending the round with the survivors being declared the victors.

Recommended Team

  • Tommy Jarvis With an Axe or Machete
  • (Not needed)Male Counselor with High Strength Such as Brandon Wilson or Adam Palomino With a Baseball Bat
  • Female Counselor with High Stealth or high stamina to either hide from or kite Jason.

It is recommended to have multiple of the same characters or be confident in your own play.

Items of Interest

Pamela Voorhees' Sweater

A sweater belonging to Jason's deceased mother, it can be found only in Jason's shack which spawns in one of two random areas per map. A good tip to finding the shack is understanding the location of campfires on a map loadout. Jason's shack will replace one of the campfires or other structure like the boat workshop, so if you have a map (and know the locations of all campfires) you'll have a good idea of where to find the sweater. While equipped, it doesn't take up an item slot compared to normal items, but it can only be used by female counselors.

As mentioned above, Pamela's sweater can "stun" Jason for a momentary time, giving everyone around Jason the opportunity to knock him on his knees while his guard is down, which is necessary for Tommy Jarvis to kill him. However, outside of the Killing Jason quest, it doesn't hold much power. The female counselor cannot move for a short moment when using the sweater, which makes it detrimental as an escape tool, and wearing it will make most Jason players anxious since it means he could be killed if Tommy Jarvis is still alive. Therefore, if you don't want to be singled out as a target, don't wear the sweater.

If you intend on grabbing the sweater, choose a female counselor who is athletic (high speed/stamina) or stealthy (high stealth/composure). Depending on your playstyle, you can either hide from Jason until Tommy Jarvis arrives, or wear the sweater as an athletic counselor as a means to draw aggro from Jason. The former is a great way to make Jason search areas other than objectives while the latter is a great way to draw Jason's attention towards you so fellow counselors can repair objectives. Either way, Jason players who panic will hunt you down if they know Tommy Jarvis hasn't died yet, so be ready for a showdown if Jason finds you wearing his mother's sweater.

Jason Voorhees' Mask

An iconic hockey mask Jason is famously known for wearing, this can be knocked off his face if counselors successfully deal enough damage by attacking his face. Counselors with high strength will excel at this part, and Tommy Jarvis (if summoned into the game) can be a major help with his maxed strength stat. They will need to be armed with high strength weapons to make this task easier; look for machetes as well as axes to get this job done.

When a female counselor is equipped with the mask, Pamela will not warn Jason someone has intruded the shack. However, the female counselor should watch out for bear traps Jason might leave behind as a precaution. If you're making the run for the sweater, try to arm yourself with pocket knives and/or medical spray cans to help you deal with the traps, but if you end up having to step on one in order to disarm it, Jason will be warned by a noise cue as well as a glowing icon on his map what you're up to.

As of the patch released on October 25, 2017, Tommy is now automatically equipped with a medical spray as well as a pocket knife, meaning it can sometimes be advantageous to have Tommy help out a female counselor with gaining entrance to Jason's shack should there be a trap lying in wait.

If you know Tommy Jarvis is on the map, or you have time to loot since you had the mask when you successfully entered the shack, consider grabbing the axe. This can be used by Tommy Jarvis to execute Jason if no one can arm him with a machete/axe of their own. It can also be given to strength counselors or Tommy in order to help them rip off Jason's mask if that step hasn't been completed yet.

Overview

Killing Jason is a very strong way to win the game as a counselor, due to the pressure applied even if one fails, and the continually guaranteed and speedy method to do it. With only a sweater girl and Tommy Jarvis With an axe, and some simple combat, one will have a 90% chance of winning the game (based on axe stun).

In more high level competitive settings, this helps to make the game even less fair for Jason.

Working together

While playing with a group of friends, you will have to expect the possibility of incompetent teammates outside the group who might ruin the plan unintentionally (or on purpose, in the event a malicious troll catches wind of what's going on). There are ways to make this win condition easier to do, however.

First, plan with your friends on whether or not you plan on doing this to begin with, then choose counselors who excel at fulfilling the steps. Every counselor can contribute to killing Jason, but some of them are better at certain tasks, and it's up to you to figure out where your place will be in the team. Have at least one of your friends choose a female counselor; she can grab the sweater to ensure your team has someone they trust equipped with it.

Don't ignore the other objectives; they can be useful for putting pressure on Jason as well as serving as a backup in case it becomes impossible to kill him. For instance, successfully calling the police will put Jason in a tough spot, and many counselors who refuse to take part in trying to kill Jason will flee. This gives your buddies as well as people willing to cooperate more time to plan while Jason hunts down the fleeing counselors. Furthermore, if you meet all steps, and simply need to find Jason, you can force him to locate your team near the police area. This way, if the plan somehow fails, several players can still escape. Also, due to calling the police, Jason will tend to visit this spot often in order to prevent counselors from escaping, meaning you'll have a good idea of where he'll be from time to time.

Fixing an objective can be done by various people, and Jason will still hunt down people who camp around objectives which can be used to your team's advantage. Set up ambushes near objectives, possibly recruiting other players nearby or using them as bait to draw Jason towards your group. You can get the mask while ambushing Jason instead which is more preferable than being surprised by him.

Finally, don't be dismayed if your team fails. Failure may happen often. But this makes it all the more exciting if your team manages to pull this kind of victory off successfully.

Jason

In reality, Jason won't have to do many things different even if he knows some of the counselors intend to kill him. But there's still strength in knowledge as well as making preparations.

First, if you know there are people planning on killing you before the round begins, choose the Jason you believe is capable of preventing the counselors from achieving this lofty goal. For instance, Part 2 Jason has a strengthened Morph ability, and has seven traps for dealing with pesky counselors making a run for his mother's sweater, but it can be player preference.

Set one trap in front of the entrance to his shack. This way, a female counselor cannot enter the shack with ease, or they will at least have to use a pocket knife and/or medical spray can to deal with it. Next, continue to hunt down counselors like normal, but watch out near objectives if you notice through noise pings/sense vision there are multiple people in the same spot. There's a good chance it's an ambush in wait, but if you plan on murdering as many counselors as possible, then you will eventually have to fight them.

Running Jason can freely move around to assault counselors who use combat mode; take advantage of their decreased speed. This way you can move quickly to avoid being struck in a blind spot. On the flip side, non-running Jasons should use combat stance to block attacks while retaliating when given the opportunity. Jason has a faster swing animation, and can also grab counselors faster than they can hit you, but only grab if you know the counselors cannot free your victim easily (e.g. the whole group is armed with weapons that have weak stun potential). It's a better idea to hack the counselors life away since this will weaken them to a point where they will be uanble to run from you with ease. Furthermore, once fear starts to take over the whole group they will suffer stamina/stumbling penalties, all of which works in your favor.

Finally, if you can, try to murder Tommy Jarvis or the female counselor wearing the sweater before the two of them can meet. By murdering one of the two, you will end any chance of the counselors killing you, forcing them to find ways to escape instead. In the event they are prepared, and they find you, try to place any traps you have left in front of you before the sweater girl can make her move. There's a chance Tommy might accidentally step on the trap, and if he does while you recover, the counselors will fail to kill you (plus they're all conveniently grouped together).

Should you fail to prevent them from grouping together, there is little you can do. With Tommy able to remove your mask in a couple of swings, and sweater girl to back him up, you will have completely lose the ability to contest them in any way, and they can simply complete other objectives.

Above all else, don't intentionally hand them an easy victory if you find out their intentions. It's far more grand if the counselors managed to actually kill Jason despite all odds, and being given a free, cheap win makes the achievement less admirable.

Myths Confirmed/Debunked

  • Tommy Jarvis doesn't need to be equipped with Jason's mask in order to successfully kill him.
  • If a female counselor steps on one of Jason's traps set near the shack, he will be alerted by a trap sound even if the female counselor was equipped with the mask. He will not, however, receive Pamela's warning someone is there.

Trivia

  • During the animation where Tommy is killing Jason, the other counselors can still move around like normal. However, it will be in slow-motion.
  • The animations regarding how Tommy kills Jason are references to different movies. The axe execution is based on how Jason was defeated in the movie Friday the 13th: Part III by the final girl "Chris Higgins," whereas the machete execution was how Tommy himself killed Jason in the movie Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (otherwise known as Part 4).
  • The AI in Offline Mode are currently not scripted to kill Jason, even if Tommy is present on the map. This includes on Hard difficulty. The AI are not known to aimlessly wander into Jason's Shack, nor are able to take the sweater.

Motorize escapes

Boat

The Boat is a means of Escape in Friday the 13th: The Game: Video Game. The boat can only hold 2 players.

The Boat is a 2 seated vehicle and before you can escape via the boat you must first Repair it by finding the Propeller and Gas Diesel.

Once you have found either the propeller or some gas, you must preform the repair QTE mini game to attach the part to the boat. If you fail at any part of the repair QTE mini game Jason will hear a sound cue alerting him to it.

In Offline Bots mode, boats do not appear.

Contrary to popular belief, the Boat's startup sound is not completely silent. Though it was silent for over a year after release due to developer error. This came as a surprise to the player-base, who assumed the silent boat startup was functioning as intended due to boat escapes being much easier for Jason to counteract after detection, in comparison to the cars.

Car

The Cars are a means of Escape in Friday the 13th: The Game.
